Spun

Red thread, hair, scissors, 2018.

Boards covered in nails line my room, the nails connect hundreds of red threads to a needle in my hand. I can not leave when it is in my hand. As I breathe the threads follow my movements. I can not leave until the task is completed. I cut my hair and weave it through my toes and begin to spin it into a thread. This landscape has trapped me. I thread the needle with my hair and crank it through the red threads. I demand control. My hair holds the thread together and I cut my hair. I need control of my body.
